Why do mexican and Japanese wrestlers wear masks?

It is a tradition, mostly wrestlers with high flying styles have masks, notice that only luchadors wear masks for a long time or for their entire career.Big muscly wrestlers wear masks for a short time. Why do mexican and Japanese wrestlers wear masks?
It is an honour thing. It's like a last name, you try to represent it the best way you can. Most wrestlers who wear masks inherited the mask from their fathers, grandfathers, uncles. etc. Why do mexican and Japanese wrestlers wear masks?
History

Because wrestling wasn't all was a full time job in Mexico %26amp; Japan so during the day they work then at night they wrestle so they wear mask so no one would know who they were during the day
So there wives don't find out they're wrestling when they said they were on a business trip. They are very possessive you know.
Well i know it's tradition in mexico, not so sure about japan
It's just their thing, it's apart of the lucha libre culture.
to conceal there identities
its the passion in japan and maxico thats why
That's how they roll
because they are ugly
