MEXICO CITY 鈥?Schools closed Friday for 6.1 million students across Mexico City and its suburbs, along with public museums and libraries, after an unusually fierce swine flu outbreak that has killed at least 20 people. More than 40 deaths are being investigated for a connection to the virus.
Authorities in the capital 鈥?home to about half of the 18 million people in the metropolitan area 鈥?planned to hand out surgical masks on the crowded subway and public bus system, prohibit mass events and perhaps even cancel professional soccer matches in an attempt to contain the outbreak.
