It takes more time to hoist a half-mast flag as the flag is first hoisted full and then lowered.
Is it mask or mast? I think it's mast
Flags are flown at ';half mast'; when someone of significant importance dies.
It's when a high ranking member of government, or a prominent civil figure has died.
