Does anyone know what those half-face masks that painters wear are called?

They are like a half-ski mask, but lighter for summer.

Usually commercial painters wear these...

Thanks!Does anyone know what those half-face masks that painters wear are called?
Well after a good laugh from reading your question and all the well meaning responses... You seemed to be getting everything but what you were looking for!!!

I know they go on your head, but they are called SPRAY SOCKS! They are to protect your hair from getting full of paint when using a sprayer to paint the ceilings and walls! They actually go down to the neck, but they get hot and so people cut them to make them more comfortable!

Hope this is what you were looking for!Does anyone know what those half-face masks that painters wear are called?
I think perhaps this is what you are looking for --

And yes, it is to keep the blowback from spray painting from coating the painter, hehehe... There is no nose or mouth covering, because the workers that actually wear these, are also wearing respirators.

As someone else mentioned, these things can get hot. But they do make cleanup a lot easier.

Have Fun
They are worn by drywall sanders and spray painters. Particle masks. Nothing special. A T shirt does the same thing in a pinch. Check in an autobody supply shop or a paint store or a builder supply or drywall supply store. It depends on what you saw or mean. They will even have a book for you to look in.
Dust mask or dual canister respirator.

I am a Retired Painting Contractor so I should know.
the old knitted style ';ski masks'; are actually called balaclavas. maybe that's what they call the painters thing
they're called a ';head sock'; ... you can get them at pretty much any paint store...
